CoroMill 360, the new 60 degree face mill from Sandvik Coromant combines high security and cost-effective performance for heavy-industry segments.

A robust cutter body in through-hardened steel provides strength for the most demanding operations, with wedge-clamped inserts housed in an exchangeable cassette system to maximize machining performance. The precise location of the cassettes against the cutter body ensures accurate cutting performance while quick-release inserts, which can be removed with one turn of the wedge screw, help to reduce tool change times and provide maximum flexibility.

The 4-edged inserts give a light-cutting performance and are available in 19 mm and 28 mm, with each size using the same cutter body to keep tool inventory to a minimum. They offer a maximum cutting depth of 18 mm at high feed per tooth to ensure a highly productive performance. Their wide parallel land design ensures a high surface finish quality unique for a heavy duty milling cutter.

CoroMill 360 is available in diameters from 160 – 500 mm in close and extra close pitch design, Arbor and CIS Arbor shank styles. Inserts come in high-performance, New Insert Generation grades for steel, stainless steel, cast iron and heat resistant super alloy machining.

Tangentially Clamped, Single-Ended Parting System

ISCAR is introducing a new, single-ended insert for parting, with an improved clamping method (patent pending).

TAG insert features

● Very rigid clamping in a tangentially oriented pocket.

● Enables machining at very high feed rates and provides excellent straightness and surface finish.

● Recommended for parting large diameter parts and for interrupted cuts.

● Offers a free, unobstructed chip flow, since there is no upper jaw as in the other clamping systems (very important in deep grooving and parting applications).

● The combination of tangential clamping and free chip flow results in improved tool and pocket life.

● Provides a solution to the problem of inserts being pulled out during retraction.

The TAG inserts are available with the familiar J- and C-type chipformers, with neutral and angular frontal cutting edges.

The new tools are equipped with a user-friendly clamping and extracting device.

The TANG-GRIP family includes square shank tools, blades and inserts in 2-12 mm widths in the most advanced IC830 and IC808 SUMO TEC grades. The blades for 8, 9, and 12 mm inserts have coolant holes directed to the cutting edge from the bottom. The blades are in standard sizes which fit ISCAR’s standard blocks.

Recommended operating and machining conditions are similar to our other single-ended parting systems and provide better performance.

ISCAR MINCUT Inserts Designed to Improve Small-Scale Face Grooving

“ISCAR now offers a family of small face grooving and turning tools that stand up to high machining rates in applications prone to high tool failure rates,” said a spokesperson. “New MINCUT MIFR…8 inserts and tools incorporate a unique design (patent pending) and clamping system that prolongs tool life. The inserts are screw clamped very rigidly into a long pocket in the toolbar.

“The new inserts and toolbars cover the diameter range from 8 mm to 17 mm (.315-inch to .669-inch) and grooving depths up to 5.5 mm (.216-inch). With this new size range, together with their PICCO and CHAMGROOVE tools, ISCAR now offers the most complete line of face grooving tools for diameters from 6 mm.

“As a result of its unique geometry and internal coolant delivery, the MINCUT grooving tool delivers uninterrupted chip flow that can be safely used for grooving in deep holes. It can also handle rotating applications, functioning like a single point trepanning tool.”

Inserts, in hard, fine-grain grade IC 908 for high chipping resistance, are available in widths from 1.5 mm to 2.2 mm (060-inch to .087-inch).
