ISCAR MINCUT Inserts
ISCAR MINCUT Inserts Designed to Improve Small-Scale Face Grooving
“ISCAR now offers a family of small face grooving and turning tools that stand up to high machining rates in applications prone to high tool failure rates,” said a spokesperson. “New MINCUT MIFR…8 inserts and tools incorporate a unique design (patent pending) and clamping system that prolongs tool life. The inserts are screw clamped very rigidly into a long pocket in the toolbar.
“The new inserts and toolbars cover the diameter range from 8 mm to 17 mm (.315-inch to .669-inch) and grooving depths up to 5.5 mm (.216-inch). With this new size range, together with their PICCO and CHAMGROOVE tools, ISCAR now offers the most complete line of face grooving tools for diameters from 6 mm.
“As a result of its unique geometry and internal coolant delivery, the MINCUT grooving tool delivers uninterrupted chip flow that can be safely used for grooving in deep holes. It can also handle rotating applications, functioning like a single point trepanning tool.”
Inserts, in hard, fine-grain grade IC 908 for high chipping resistance, are available in widths from 1.5 mm to 2.2 mm (060-inch to .087-inch).

ISCAR Introduces Adjustable Milling Cutters
“A new family of High Speed Milling (HSM) adjustable endmills and facemills from ISCAR improve milling of aluminum, non-metallics, cast iron and hardened steel, especially in automotive and aerospace applications,” said a company spokesperson.
“The dynamically balanced cutters are specifically designed to work with polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or cubic boron nitride (CBN) inserts, protecting their edges and delivering outstanding surface finishes,” the spokesperson said. “They also accommodate standard HSM-rated HELIDO 2000 carbide inserts.
“In both the endmills and facemills, internal coolant holes ensure a cooler cutting face while improving chip evacuation and resistance to built-up edge.
“Insert pockets in the cutters feature a flexible rear stopper, which can be adjusted by a slanted screw, enabling axial positioning of the cutting edge within 0.002 mm (.00008 inches).
“Endmills, designated E90AD, are available with HSK A63 shanks in four diameters from 25 to 50 mm (1 to 2 inches). Facemills, designated F90AD, cover the 50 to 80 mm (2 to 3 inches) diameter range, also in four sizes.
“When used with HELIDO carbide inserts, the adjustable HSM cutters deliver extremely smooth cutting action with low cutting forces. HELIDO inserts’ helical cutting edges gently enter the work a bit at a time, like scissors slicing into paper, to reduce impact loads at the cutting face.”

ISCAR Chip-Splitting Inserts Tame Aluminum Rough Milling
“ISCAR’s new HM90 APCR 220605-CS grooved inserts put an end to chip jamming problems in rough milling of aluminum, where chips can pile up like snowballs,” said a spokesperson. “They are a part of ISCAR’s growing HELIALU HM90 line of inserts tailored specifically for aluminum milling.
“With two grooves pressed into each polished cutting face, the inserts split aluminum chips into a manageable size for easy, reliable evacuation despite the application’s characteristic high chip volume.
“The 22 mm inserts, each with two edges, are designed to optimize metal removal over the full range of aluminum roughing conditions, from high power/low speed to high power/high speed. They work especially well with ISCAR’s new HM90 EAL/FAL…22 aluminum rough milling cutters. Besides reliably clearing chips, the inserts conserve power and reduce chatter in long-overhang setups.
“The inserts feature a cavity on the bottom to ensure correct mounting in cutter chip pockets equipped with standard spring pins. For optimum chip control, ISCAR recommends using the HM90 APCR chip-splitting insert only in cutters with an even number of flutes.”

Iscar High Density Cutters

ISCAR has expanded its CHAMSLIT line to include high-performance grooving cutters for O-rings, retainers, circle clips and related applications. “The cutters offer 50 percent higher insert density than any of the competitor’s cutters for faster cutting,” said an ISCAR spokesperson. “The TRI inserts provide three times as many edges per insert to reduce consumables costs.
“Tests have shown that an added benefit of such a high insert density is that the cutter keeps performing safely even if one cutting edge fails. CHAMSLIT grooving cutters also can handle square, round and chamfer grooves, as well as thread profiles.”
Two added features enable you to work closer to the bottom of a groove, slot or cavity. The TRI insert sits slightly tilted in the pocket for bottom relief, and the overall low-profile cutter design permits shallow face milling right next to the bottom.
Available in a diameter range of 1.25 to 3.15 inches, they can cut grooves up to 1.89 inches deep. To reduce cutter inventory, a single tool accommodates a .047- to .158-inch insert width range. All cutters come with coolant holes directing flow right to the cutting edge. The thick, strong inserts are made of tough, versatile carbide grade IC 908.

Iscar DR Indexable Drills

Iscar DR Indexable Drills
POPULAR DR INDEXABLE DRILLS HANDLE LARGER DIAMETERS
ISCAR has expanded its line of popular, feature-rich DR indexable twist drills to cover the 61 to 80 mm diameter range. Now the entire family covers diameters from 14 to 80 mm. Key applications include automotive and aerospace manufacturing and die & moldmaking.
All DR drills offer these key features for versatility, fast penetration, process security and long life:
• Adjustable drill shanks are able to produce several diameters with a single shank, reducing tool inventories. In the new large-diameter offering, just four shanks cover the 61 to 80 mm range.
• Ability to double as boring tools and handle aspect ratios (depth to diameter) up to 2.5. On lathes, DR drills can produce intermediate diameters by offsetting the X-axis.
• Insert selections optimized for all steels, alloys and cast iron.
• Weldon drill bodies with high flute angles and wide gullets in the shank area for easy chip evacuation.
• Square inserts offering four edges each.
• Hardened drill cartridges to resist chip erosion.
• ISCAR’s wear-resistant HARD TOUCH coating on the inner drill flutes, to reduce friction, optimize chip evacuation and ultimately improve surface finish.
• Extra-hardened chip deflector surfaces, next to the cartridge where wear forces are the most severe, thereby improving shank life.
• Extra-durable square PVD IC808 and CVD IC8080 carbide grades for better surface quality and prolonged edge life in the peripheral inserts, which see the toughest conditions.
Available in whole metric sizes, the new drills come with interchangeable shims to change hole diameters. The shims fit under the insert cartridge and can be changed in minutes.
The new large DR drills accommodate 10, 11 and 12 mm square inserts. The inserts, available with two chipformer types, are available in three grades: IC 808 and 908 for low alloy steel, stainless steel and high temperature alloys; and IC 8080 for cast iron and steel.

Iscar Chatterfree End Mills

Iscar Chatterfree Endmills
Manufacturers and die & mold shops can now eliminate chatter problems in many milling operations with ISCAR’s new CHATTERFREE endmills. The cutters’ variable-pitch flute pattern eliminates harmonic vibration, the main source of chatter. This enables faster cutting and finer finish in rough or finish slotting, shoulder milling and cavity milling. In addition, users also report longer edge life due to reduced chatter.
The chatter-free feature is available in both solid carbide endmills and tips in ISCAR’s MULTI-MASTER replaceable-tip line.
Diameter range is 6 to 20 mm (0.250 – 0.750″) for the solid carbide endmills, and 8 to 20 mm (0.312 – 0.750″) for MULTI-MASTER tips.
These new endmills are ideal for low power machines with ISO40 or BT40 adaptations.
The solid carbide version can handle full slot machining up to 2xD. Depth capability on the replaceable-tip version is more limited
since the active length is shorter.
In full slotting applications on alloy steel, the solid carbide version
easily handles 0.03-0.05 feed rates at 180-220 mm/min surface speed and 2xD depth of cut.

Iscar HeliTurn

Iscar HeliTurn
ISCAR’s HELITURN system features a unique, double-sided insert with 4 cutting edges for Fast Metal Removal (FMR) turning. The new HELITURN is a tangentially clamped insert with a unique helical shaped cutting edge, useful for large depths of cut and higher than normal feed rate.
The LNMX…-HT HELITURN insert is screw-clamped into the SLANR toolholder and supported by the TLN ..-HT carbide seat. This seat has ground surfaces on the top and bottom, to ensure perfect contact of the insert with the toolholder.
The upper rake face of this insert is mounted level with the top of the toolholder to enable chips to flow across the insert, without being disturbed by clamps or the toolholder body. The 4 curved helical cutting edges ensure positive radial rake angles and soft penetration into the material being cut. The lower forces and smaller loads ensure better tool life, higher stability and the ability to use very large depths of cut and higher feeds. The chipformer (with small bumps), deforms and breaks the chip into rib type curved segments which can easily be removed from the cutting area.
The insert has a frontal clearance angle of 3.7° with a 6° side clearance angle to allow machining to a 90° shoulder.
Depths of cut up to 8 mm [.315”] and facing depths to 3.2 mm [.126” ]
at up to 1.2 mm/rev [.047” IPR] are achievable with HELITURN.
